For 45 years Viking football has been part of a high school athletic program known for its tradition of excellence and considered one of the best in the province. Over the last decade in particular, AB Lucas has risen to become a powerhouse in high school football in the province of Ontario. Competing in the highly competitive TVRAA of Southwestern Ontario the Vikings have been to five consecutive senior city finals and three junior city finals, as well as graduating two Bob Gooder Award Winners (the accolade given to the best football player in the City of London) - Dillon Carter, 2004 and David Lee, 2007. The Vikings also graduated one SPECTRA award winner, given to the top athlete in the City of London (Terrence Leeper, 2003). In 2008 Lucas Viking Harold Lee was the recipient of the Jim Allan Award, which recognizes the best lineman in the TVRAA. 2010 promises to be another exciting one for the Vikings as they field another skilled, competitive squad in both the junior and varsity ranks.

Required is a cheque made out to A B Lucas post-dated for December 01/09 in the amount of $350.00. This cheque will be returned after the season has finished and the equipment returned. Practices for our junior team begins Monday August 30th at 6:00 PM and will last two hours. Equipment will be handed out all that week after practice if your son is unable to visit the school on the Wednesday or Thursday. As well, if he cannot attend practice the first week due to family holidays etc, he is still encouraged to attend try-outs the first day classes resume. Our grade nine athletes are encouraged to come and try out for our junior squad. They are not to worry about playing experience. We have had many students come to Lucas having never played any sort of organized football who went on to enjoy four and five great years of Viking football.
Our senior varsity athletes head to Paris Ontario for a four day football retreat Monday August 30th. They return on the Thursday morning and have a controlled scrimmage against the Oakridge Oaks at 11:00 AM on Friday September 3rd.
